If Snoop Dogg's reincarnation as reggae artist and all-around zen master Snoop Lion is a big publicity stunt, it's an incredibly thoughtful, well-planned publicity stunt.
Yesterday, he shared the new clip for the Diplo/Ariel Rechtshaid/Major Lazer-produced "La La La", which is more like an episode of a Nick Jr. show than a music video. In it, we've got Snoop fielding questions from a little girl in a bumblebee costume-- "Why did you change your name?"-- and dancing with kids on what looks like it could be the set for an elementary school play. This video is... extremely based.
"A bunch of kids dressed in costume, dancin', shakin' and bakin'," Snoop told MTV. "Makin' it move to the music and the sounds of Snoop Lion". Aaaaand to top it all off, the video was directed by Eli Roth, perhaps best known for the gruesome Hostel films and for playing the guy who beats everyone's brains out with a bat in Inglorious Basterds.
"La La La" appears on Snoop Lion's upcoming full-length Reincarnated. No release date has been set yet.
